How To Choose A Soccer Ball

You want choose a good soccer ball, of course, but what does "good soccer ball" mean. A good soccer ball has "truer flight" than a ball that is less good. That is, a good soccer ball does what you expect it to do during a game.

Panel Construction
Panel designs come in at 18, 26, and 32 panels. World Cup balls have 32 panels.

Cover
Cover is either PVC or TPU (also known as PU). Leather covers nowadays are synthetic and may be PVC or TPU. TPU has better feel but PVC lasts longer. Generally, PVC should be the cover of choice for training or practice balls while TPU should be used for competitive games.

Ball Size
Size 5 is the standard size soccer ball. This is recommended for anybody over twelve. Younger players can go with size 4. If you're starting off your future La Liga player at a very young age consider a size 3.

Taking Care Of Your Soccer Ball
Keep it dry and cool, that means away from direct sunlight during storage or transportation. Keeping it clean is optional.

Looking at these great looking soccer balls I'm reminded of an article on football I saw in the National Geographic magazine. There was a section in that article that had a pictorial of home-made soccer balls made all over the world by lovers of football who either had no money to buy actual soccer balls or no access to a store selling these balls. Those home-made balls were constructed of all sorts of stuff: paper, discarded rope, leaves, duct tape and styrofoam, you name it. It was a sobering testament to poverty, yes, but it was also an indication of just how popular football is - To everybody.

Again, looking at these soccer balls, the wonderful designs of each would certainly justify owning one for collecting urposes. Look at them, this are gorgeous wall decorations for a rec room. Specially since they produce balls to commemorate events or key Players. Collecting soccer balls is definitely a thing.

Whether you're playing or collecting - or both. Spending time with a game you love is definitely time well spent.
